We assist non-profit and charitable organizations with grant writing, program expansion, strategic planning, and capacity building.

Panel 1

We can’t wait to work with you.

Meet Zishan Chaudry and Maryam Mahmood: professional grant writers, experienced program planners, and published authors in academic journals. We’re also husband and wife, which means dinner conversations often revolve around line items in your latest budget. We are both passionate about working with non-profit organizations and Indigenous communities, with experience living and working on-reserve in British Columbia and Ontario. We work with organizations serving a variety of vulnerable and marginalized populations, including seniors, at-risk youth, and newcomers/refugees.

ZISHAN is a medical doctor by training and graduated with his Master of Public Health from Lakehead University in 2019. Zishan has worked in First Nations communities as well as in the private and public sector. He is currently employed in the non-profit healthcare sector. When he isn’t working, Zishan watches and plays soccer and basketball, or hangs out with the family.

MARYAM is an Ontario and British Columbia Certified Teacher with a Masters of Science in Ecology from the University of Toronto. She successfully applied for the competitive NSERC Post-Graduate Scholarship (which has a 28% acceptance rate) while doing her PhD and is an experienced proposal writer. Maryam is an avid Raptors fan and may be reluctant to work with fans of any other team.

We regularly bounce grant ideas off our baby girl, Future Grant Writer Chaudry, who expresses approval or disgust through a spectacular array of gurgles.

Sadly, Toddler Chaudry has decided his blocks and trains take precedence over any brainstorming sessions. We understand and wish him well in his future endeavours.

Panel 2

We’ve been busy.

Since 2017, we have won our clients $55+ million through various funding opportunities, including grants from:

  • Public Health Agency of Canada
  • Public Safety Canada
  • Department of Canadian Heritage
  • Employment and Social Development Canada
  • Innovation, Science, and Economic Development Canada
  • Ontario Ministry of Health
  • Trade Commissioner Service
  • The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council
  • Canada Council for the Arts
  • Canadian Red Cross
  • Food Banks Canada
  • Government of Nunavut
  • Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training, and Skills Development
  • Ontario Trillium Foundation

In addition to grant exploration and writing, we also provide the following services:

  • Program planning and evaluation
  • Business cases and cases for support
  • Workshop facilitation
  • Research and development

Though we primarily work with charities and non-profits, we also provide services to for-profit organizations and businesses (e.g., the CanExport application from the Trade Commissioner Service).

We are skilled at aligning proposals with funder criteria and priorities, supporting our work with evidence from academic literature, and developing clear logic models and deliverables within our programs.

Please contact us for further information about opportunities for your organization. We are always looking to expand our services and would love to work with you to meet your specific needs.

Panel 3

We think we’re pretty great, but don’t take our word for it!

“Write on Time has become Cited Media’s go-to for our myriad grant writing needs. We can’t recommend them highly enough! They reliably deliver top-notch work in a range of academic disciplines, and do so on tight and shifting timelines. We’ve collaborated with Write on Time on multiple knowledge mobilization grants in recent years, with success rates well above sectoral averages. Plus, they’re a pleasure to work with. It’s rare to find the complete package — careful listeners, knowledgeable researchers, gifted writers, steadfast professionals, and genuinely nice people — but you’ll find it in Write on Time.”

David Tobiasz | Cited Media

“Maryam and the team at Write on Time are the epitome of what your organization needs from grant writing services. We have been working with Write on Time for over a year and can’t imagine continuing without their expertise! It took them no time at all to understand our organization, mission and culture. They are truly skilled at executing complex grant requirements, possess excellent communication and writing abilities, provide top notch research skills, have a knack for aligning our organization’s mission with funder initiatives and can break down broad concepts into logical outputs. Their solid organizational skills allow for quick timelines and multiple priorities all while collaborating with our internal team. Their knowledge of and experience with multiple funders within a variety of sectors is invaluable. I highly recommend their services.”

Toula Murchie | Chief Development Officer, Pinnguaq Association

“It has been an absolute pleasure working with Maryam and the team from Write on Time over the past two years.  Maryam assisted us on several key federal grants pulling them together quickly and efficiently on extraordinarily tight timelines.  Her work ethic is bar none, and she effortlessly dives into depths of subjects as needed to write and execute excellent, intelligent grants with patience, active listening and a sense of humor.  As a researcher, I know first hand that good grantsmanship is a skill that takes significant work and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Maryam for your needs.”

Saskia Sivananthan | Chief Research & KTE Officer, Alzheimer Society of Canada

“We have had the pleasure of working with Maryam and Zishan of Write On Time for about 2 years now and they are great collaborators and have become an integral part of our team. Maryam and Zishan picked up on our underlying arguments and program goals quickly and aside from excellent writing, what I found of particular value was solid research to reference in support of our position in grant funding applications which clearly has contributed to our success in receiving grants. I would recommend working with Maryam and Zishan without any hesitation or reservation”

Scott Jeary | Executive Director, First Nations Education Foundation

“Since we started to work with them, Write on Time has offered tremendous help to our organization. Within less than a 1 year, we have been able to multiply our grant applications by 12, and multiplied our external income by almost 12 thanks to their service.”

Hawa Keita | Executive Director, CEED Concordia

CANES Community Care first met Zishan when he completed a detailed evaluation of our Community Outreach program funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation. We were so impressed with his research and analytical skills plus his writing ability that we hired him again and again to assist our agency in preparing business cases and funding applications. All of the submissions made with Zishan Chaudry on our writing team were approved! I would highly recommend him to any non-profit organization looking to evaluate a program or to source new funding to expand a service- you won’t be disappointed.”

Gord Gunning | CEO, CANES Community Care

Maryam was outstanding last year! We were struggling to find and recruit teachers for our small, semi-isolated community, but Maryam knocked it out of the park with expert skills on employment sites and resume scanning. Hands down would recommend Maryam, and will definitely be using her services again”

D. Benzimra | Principal, Eugene Joseph Elementary School, Tl’azt’en Nation

The Write on Time team has been a pleasure to work with! Maryam and Zishan are highly skilled at delivering evidence-based, results-oriented proposals that are specifically catered to funder requirements. Since 2019, we have been successful with multiple government funding applications, including the New Horizons for Seniors program and the CanExport program. The development process is inclusive, balancing their critical and strategic feedback with client needs and project vision. I would highly recommend Zishan and Maryam to any organization looking to expand their funding through grant and proposal writing!”

M. Khan | Business Manager, Aspire Business Solutions

It is with pleasure that I recommend the consultancy services of Write on Time! The Norman Recollet Health Centre – Wahnapitae First Nation – availed themselves of the consultancy services of Zishan for a regional project entitled “Palliative and End-of-Life Care Planning Workshops” in conjunction with the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch of Indigenous Services Canada. Zishan was responsible for organizing and conducting these workshops in Sudbury and on Manitoulin Island, including liaising with First Nations communities in the region, developing the workshop and acting as a discussion facilitator. This project dealt with sensitive and difficult subject matter that brought several First Nation communities together from different territories with a focused, collaborative and culturally sensitive approach. Our experience working with Zishan was always highlighted by his highly professional approach and a thorough attention to detail, allowing for the successful completion of the workshops, culminating in a comprehensive report for FNIHB. We look forward to engaging with Zishan and Write on Time on future opportunities, and highly recommend his services.”

Robin Cheslock | Former Health Director, Norman Recollet Health Centre, Wahnapitae First Nation

Zishan and Maryam are stellar grant writers and remarkable additions to Cause Tutoring. They brought a wealth of varied experience, are detail-oriented and ensured that our grant application packages met all grant requirements. I would highly recommend them to any non-profit organization looking to evaluate a program or to source new funding to expand a service.”

Latévi Placca | Director of Finance, CAUSE Tutoring
